Mian Nawaz Sharif re claimed his traditional seat after gap of 16 years and defeated Dr. Yasmin Rashid of PTI. Dr. Yasmin Rashid comparatively put up good fight and polled 52 thousand votes from this PML-N strong hold.

Mohammad Pervaiz Malik of the PML-N won Nawaz Sharif’s traditional seat consists of Gawalmandi and surrounding areas in 2002 with 14,000 votes ahead of Altaf Ahmed Qureshi of the PPP. Mian Ashraf of the PML-Q, who is also the brother of the then PML-Q chief Mian Mohammad Azhar,
was 4,000 votes behind the runner-up. The 2002 winner is the brother of Attorney General Malik Mohammad Qayyum. In 2008, however, the PML-N is fielded Bilal Yasin, a close relative of Nawaz Sharif and a former provincial legislator, who defeated Jahangir Bader Secretary general of PPP with very huge margin of 35K votes.
